The start

I've decided to do a century ride. That's 100 miles in one day on my bike. I've been wanting to do something like this for a few years now and finally decided to go for it. I bought a nice bike and I've got a training plan. The goal is to ride in the Jesse James Bike Tour in Northfield, MN on September 12, 2009. I've had a few setbacks in getting started, and I'm actually starting my training much later than I had planned. Originally I was going to start in June, but things didn't work out and I'm just getting started now. That means I'll have to be seriously training for the first month of school. With 16 credits and a job that will be difficult. I'm hoping that I'll be able to keep it up. My friend, Chris Morales has decided to ride with me. He had planned to just follow me in the car in case anything happened during the ride, but now he says he wants to ride. That will be some added motivation to train hard. Also, I figured if I started this blog to record my training rides, my friends could help motivate me to keep riding. Being a serious cyclist is something that I've been wanting to do for a long time, and this ride is a huge step in that direction.
